Island Oaks RV Resort, founded by father and son duo Carter and Chris Funk opened in April 2022. Their vision was to make a family friendly resort with amenities to entertain guests of all ages. Both enjoy playing pickleball with their spouses as a family activity and wanted to ensure Island Oaks offered courts for other enthusiasts as well. Their plan is to continue development of Island Oaks in several phases to include additional RV sites, Rental Cabins, and amenities with planning underway.
Meet the team!
Mandy – General Manager
Mandy comes to us with 30 years of experience in the RV camping industry and over 20 years of experience in managing RV Resorts. She oversees the total operations of Island Oaks. Her favorite part of camping is watching families make lifelong memories. Mandy loves to spend quality time with her husband and children and can be found at local art and crafts fairs in her spare time.
Dan – Operations Manager
Dan oversees the operational side of maintenance and Island Oaks Tavern and Grill. He has over 25 years of experience in the operations and 20+ in the camping industry having managed resorts in Florida and Tennessee. Dan is the “Go to Guy” with any RV related question. He was born a Michigander but is a Floridian by heart. In his spare time, he enjoys competitive fun with his family. Dan is married and is the father of 3 grown sons.
Gladys – Marketing and Event Coordinator
Gladys oversees all marketing of Island Oaks and assists with activity and event planning for the resort. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Human Environmental Sciences with a focus on Consumer Sciences. She loves spending her days finding new hobbies and adventures around Florida with her husband and with her golden retriever, Clyde.
Mindy – Recreation Coordinator
Mindy plans and executes daily activities and entertainment for guests to enjoy at the resort. She is passionate about RV camping and loves spending her spare time with her husband and three children.
Natalie – Office Coordinator
Natalie comes to us with 15 years of customer service and bookkeeping experience. She oversees the front office for reservations and bookkeeping. She loves camping and spending time with her husband and children. She is also an avid fisher and loves spending her days out on the water.
Janet – Housekeeping Coordinator
Janet oversees our housekeeping department with extensive customer service experience. Janet has never known a stranger and loves to interact with the amazing guests at Island Oaks. Janet enjoys shopping at any outlet mall and is a large consumer for TJ MAXX.
Grady – Maintenance Coordinator
Grady oversees the maintenance department at Island Oaks. He has 15 years of lawn and maintenance experience and makes sure our park stays beautiful and well-maintained. He enjoys spending time with his two daughters.
Ashley – Food Service Coordinator
Ashley oversees Island Oaks Tavern & Grill and comes with an extensive amount of restaurant and customer service experience. She spends her free time going on adventures with her two daughters. Ashley loves to visit new places.
